SYNOPSIS

Noor (37) is a seasoned war photographer who has spent years documenting women and children in conflict zones, finding purpose in her work rather than in any sense of home. While photographing daily life in northern Mali, she stays with a small group of international Special Forces at a remote army base, where she connects with Patrick, the unit’s unofficial leader who also struggles with insomnia. When the camp goes into lockdown after an attack, Noor—cut off from her work for the first time—finds herself confronting deeply buried childhood trauma. Through intimate nocturnal conversations with Patrick, she begins to open up about her hidden pain, and against all her expectations, falls deeply in love. As Noor dares to face her trauma with Patrick by her side, she starts to understand what „home“ truly means. However, when the lockdown lifts and Patrick unexpectedly backs away from their relationship, suggesting they wait for a better time, Noor realizes she can’t return to her old life. She cancels her mission and leaves with newfound knowledge: that by listening to her feelings instead of hiding them, she will find a place where she feels at peace—a place she can call home.
