SYNOPSIS

An intimate look at a not-so-intimate middle-class Chinese family caught between past trauma and present anxiety. When a mysterious new friend of their only son breaks the facade of the family’s comfortable existence, tension brews. Ultimately, they must confront individual desires and longings, and re-evaluate the meaning of family.
